IB Workshop (WS)
Workshop (WS) indicates teacher training in The International Baccalaureate Organization (known as the IB). When teachers attend a WS session, they will receive a training participation certificate. The WS will be provided online, face-to-face, and group sessions. There are three categories for WS according to the training level, and teachers need to take the necessary WS to improve their understanding and correspond to the process of certification.
-
Category 1
Workshops to provide specialized skills and support for schools that have decided on the application. When they take WSs in this category, they will be qualified as IB educators, in principle.
-
Category 2
Workshops to provide a forum focused on the implementation of programmes for experienced IB educators.
-
Category 3
Workshops to provide a forum focused on structuring and strengthening specialized skills for experienced IB educators.
Before applying for IB candidacy, principals and other school administrators are required to attend an IB category 1 workshop first to understand the IB programmes and the authorization process. Then, before the verification visit to determine the authorization, school faculty and those who will be IB coordinators are required to attend the necessary workshops.
Type of Workshops (Example: Face-to face WS for the Diploma Programme — Refer to the IB website.)
[WS for school administrators]
- – Administrators: This WS is aimed for those responsible for school management, such as HR and budgets. Attendees will learn about the IB philosophy and how to collaborate in the school.
- – Coordination: This WS is to train coordinators who will be in charge of coordination work related to the IB.
[WS for faculty and staff]
- – WS by subject: In addition to all subjects in each group from 1 to 6, workshops on three requirements of EE, TOK, and CAS are provided. When faculty and staff complete the workshop (category 1) on the subject of which they are in charge, they will be qualified as an IB teacher. Please note that it is required to take the workshop each time the content of a subject is revised.
